CDR Rockstar Energy Yamaha’s Jay Marmont has marked his 2010 season a success after finishing second in the Super X, Australasian Supercross Championship last weekend in Brisbane.

Marmont added the Super X number two plate to the MX Nationals title he won earlier in the year, finishing fourth in the mud at QSAC Stadium on Saturday night.

“It wasn’t a bad night, got second in the championship as I kind of expected entering the night,” Wollongong’s Marmont commented. “I missed out on third overall tonight, which was a bit of a shame but that’s the way it goes sometimes.

“I can’t complain though, I’m healthy, finished first in the MX Nationals this year for the third time in a row and now I’m the top Aussie in the Super X standings.

“I gave it my all this year, but next year I want to come in a little bit fresher and ready to fight for both championships.”

During the weekend, Marmont also awarded his green and gold Team Australia gear to young Queenslander Reece Rayner, whose family bought the Fox outfit on eBay for $4050 to help raise funding for injured Yamaha youngster Harley Quinlan.

Marmont has enjoyed a strong season in 2010 with the revolutionary Yamaha YZ450F, wrapping up a third consecutive MX Nationals Championship, finishing second in Super X and also representing Australia at the Motocross of Nations in the United States.

Next year will see the 27-year-old return to the Victorian-based CDR Rockstar Energy Yamaha team for the fourth-straight season, the combination proving one of the strongest in the history of Australian Motocross.
