Triple Australian Superbike Champion Shawn Giles is sitting out this weekend’s 2010 season finale at Symmons Plains in Tasmania, but hasn’t made a decision on his future at this point.

The Team Suzuki veteran recently underwent surgery to plate his broken collarbone sustained at last month’s Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix, effectively ruling him out of the final ASBK round of the year.

“I’m not 100 percent fit yet, so without a championship on the line it was decided I would sit out this weekend and get ready for The 6 Hour,” Giles told MotoOnline.com.au this afternoon.

“This track is quite demanding with all the heavy braking areas when you are fully fit, so it would have been really hard on the collarbone if I was riding this weekend.

“If it was a week later I would have been right.”

Rumours have been rife that Giles could retire for 2011, although the 40-year-old is adamant that a decision is yet to be made regarding his future just yet.

With 2009 ASBK champion Josh Waters expected to stay in Australia next year and new Supersport champion Troy Herfoss desperate for a Superbike seat, Team Suzuki is yet to confirm its line-up for 2011.
