Enduro 3 World Champion David Knight started as the man to beat in the 2010 Weston Beach race, the mad scramble of near on a thousand bikes on the beach at Weston Super—Mare on England’s Bristol Channel last weekend and he did not disappoint.

Knight again stamped his skill on this only for the very tough beach race right from the start. He took the holeshot in the newly defined start that lopped back and provided some separation for riders, providing some damage limitation when compared to the pile-ups of 2009.

From the time he hit the front, he dominated the race, proving he is truly a man for all seasons and surfaces. Unlike last year when stinging rain added another difficult dimension to the already arduous race in the sand, the weather this year also played the winning game.

Knighter won the race in 3h3m52 seconds and finished more than seven minutes in from of his nearest rival. He also clocked the fastest lap at a stunning 7:39.45.

“It was tough and the sand is everywhere but I’m pleased I’ve won my fifth Weston, so roll on for many more,” Knighter said at the end of the battle for dominance in the sand. This year he rode a KTM 450 SX-F for the race.

Knight has been one of the Weston Beach race’s regulars and took his first victory in 1999. His total of five wins – four times solo and one on a quad – underlines the endurance skills and the downright toughness of the rider born and bred on the isle of Man.

He also relished the opportunity to ride in front of the British crowd and enjoyed the chance to get amongst some of the top MX riders from around the world.
