Three-time Pro Open Australian Motocross Champion Jay Marmont is ready for this Saturday night’s Super X, Australasian Supercross Championship, season opener at Newcastle in New South Wales.

The 27-year-old will spearhead the CDR Rockstar Energy Yamaha team in Super X 2010, partnered by young gun Ross Beaton as regular teammate Cheyne Boyd will sit out the opening part of the season with an ankle injury.

Fresh from some inspired rides representing his country at the Motocross of Nations in the United States, Marmont is fired up and ready to go for Super X.

“I always look forward to racing Supercross,” Marmont said. “The night time events, the big crowds and atmosphere make it the best events to race in. I also feel we are well prepared as the team and I have done some extensive testing while in the US and even more in the week leading up to the opening round.

“It starts on Saturday and I hope we have a huge crowd turn out for what looks to be a great championship.”

The opening three rounds will also see CDR Rockstar Yamaha host U.S. import Justin Brayton. Brayton, currently ranked five in the AMA championship, will make his Australian debut this weekend at Newcastle.

“We look forward to hosting both Ross and Justin for the opening three rounds of Super X,” says team owner Craig Dack. “We are excited to give Ross this opportunity and reward him for a successful Motocross campaign while working with Justin is just another example of how Yamaha teams around the world work together for the benefit of the rider and the company.”

Yamaha’s Super X line-up will be completed in the Pro Lites category, where the Serco Yamaha and GYTR Rockstar Yamaha teams will lead the way on a fleet of YZ250Fs.

The dynamic duo of Kirk Gibbs and Ford Dale are bound for big things as they enter the 2010 Super X Championship with Serco Yamaha.

“I have worked hard with the team to get my bike as good as possible and do the training needed to be successful at Super X,” Gibbs said. “I feel we have made the right improvements to the bike and my riding is a step above last year so I expect to do well and look forward reaching my goals this year.”

For Ford Dale, it is a welcome return to Super X as he missed a lot of last years’ series with injury.

“Right after motocross, I had some surgery on my wrist and it feels 100 percent now,” Dale said. “I have been in full training for over a month and have done more riding and practicing for this series than I have for a long time. I just want to start racing.”

The pairing of Luke Styke and Harley Quinlan will head the GYTR Rockstar-backed team, Yamaha’s official development effort.

All Yamaha riders will be making a special Super X dealer appearance at Fraser’s Motorcycles, 137 Lambton Road, Broadmeadow on Saturday, 16 October between 10 and 11am. There will be a range of giveaways, posters and a heap of Super X deals in store.
