Australian Superbike Championship leader Bryan Staring joined the Lorenzini by Leoni Kawasaki team at Magny-Cours in France on Wednesday to debut the all-new 2011 model ZX-10R Superstock 1000 contender.

Staring attended last weekend’s World Superbike season finale in search of finding a seat for next season, securing a test with the Lorenzini team alongside South African Sheridan Morias, which Kawasaki had already signed to campaign Superstock for next year.

“The bike had a standard exhaust system and stock suspension, so it was hard to say what it was like exactly as a race bike,” Staring told MotoOnline as he boarded his flight home in Paris on Wednesday evening. “The engine seemed fast though, and we eventually got it set up pretty good.”

Staring unofficially lapped around three or four tenths fastest than Morias as his test concluded, the team giving him three hours of seat time during the day.

The 23-year-old Gold Coast-based ASBK star traveled to Europe in a spur of the moment trip, borrowing gear for the unexpected outing with the Lorenzini team, but expected to have to provide funding if he is to join Morias in the team for 2011.

Staring will now return to Australia to focus on finishing off his ASBK season, which he leads by 18.5 points for Cougar Bourbon Honda Racing over fellow Honda rider Wayne Maxwell.
