WSBK: British champ Lowes joins Parkalgar Honda in WSS

Newly crowned British Supersport Champion Sam Lowes has signed for the Parkalgar Honda team to contest the 2011 World Supersport Championship.

Lowes is on a confidence high after securing the British Championship in domineering style with a round to spare. Just turned 20-years-of-age, he is up for the World Championship challenge.

“It is a dream come true for me that I will be riding for Parkalgar Honda in the 2011 World Supersport Championship,” Lowes said. “This is one of the best teams in the world and is right at the front of the races week in and out.

“I am under no illusions how difficult the step will be but with Parkalgar Honda I have a team that knows what to do and how to win. I can’t wait to get racing with the team and fitted to the bike.

“Thank you to Parkalgar Honda for having the faith in me, I will do all I can to repay that with race wins and a championship challenge.”

Simon Buckmaster, Parkalgar Honda team manager, welcomed Lowes to replace Yamaha WSBK-bound Eugene Laverty.

“Sam is a rider in the vein of Craig Jones and Eugene Laverty,” Buckmaster said. “As a team we enjoy spotting talent and bringing it through to world championship level and we are confident he can be a race winner and title challenger in his first year with us.

“It will be hard work but we have what we believe is the best motorcycle in the Honda CBR600RR and the best crew to man it in the Parkalgar Honda squad. We are going into 2011 with high hopes and welcome Sam to the team.”
