Upon logging on to MotoOnline.com.au this morning, many of our regulars would have noticed some swift new changes that we uploaded into the system late yesterday afternoon.

In a true case of how quickly time flies when you’re having fun, the website is now almost 18 months young since we launched it early last year, growing quickly and exceeding expectations at this point.

However, over that time we’ve realised the need for some slight adjustments in its operation, something that we’ve introduced this week to ensure the site is easier to use than ever before.

Yep, it sure does look the goods with the all-new darker background and other minor changes, here is a list of technical changes that we’ve also made that probably don’t stand out quite so much from the outset:

  • The navigation bar is now a lot more straightforward, featuring an all-new Features dropdown menu that directly links users to our feature sections of the site. Also new to the nav bar is the separated Images and Films buttons, the Follow Us botton and a Home button to get you back to square one in a hurry if required. We’ve also added a direct linking button to the News section for ease of use. You’ll also see that the Privateer Profile and The Point sections now have their own positions in the Features menu.
  • There’s also a cool mini nav bar at the bottom of the site in case you’re too lazy to scroll back to the top to visit a different section of the site!
  • There’s now a Today’s Highlights scrolling bar above the Breaking News section, giving visitors a quick snap shot of the standout Features that have been uploaded to this site recently.
  • The Latest Features section now automatically scrolls through the latest three items, meaning you’ll never miss a Feature as it completes the job on auto-pilot to show you what’s new.
  • The Product Showcase box has been around for a little while now directly below the Latest Features on the homepage, highlighting the hottest products released on the home page when they’re submitted into the Product Centre.
  • The Breaking News section has been extended to display 20 stories instead of the previous 15 on the home page, essentially meaning quality stories don’t disappear into the archives quite so quickly. We’ve also got a new advertisement space on the left that you can see.
  • We’ll be uploading more video content than ever before with the Featured Films box now displayed on the home page, meaning we can upload as many as we like without cluttering up the Latest Features section. Everyone loves to watch a quick flick at work, so keep an eye on that!
  • Social networking users can now go directly to our Facebook or Twitter pages via the expanded Follow Us section in the RHS sidebar, and we’re also working on a fresh new mailing system that will take certain updates of MotoOnline.com.au directly to your inbox on demand.

Between my company and our web developers we’re always pushing to take that next step and remain at the forefront of online media, and I believe it’s safe to say that we’ve got the platform to boost MotoOnline.com.au to the next level over the coming months.

Thanks to all of our ever important advertisers and visitors who literally make it possible for the site to continue and advance, so remember to spread the word and help use continue the rise through the ranks to round out the year.

And as an added bonus, our increasingly popular competitions in the iMoto Community will continue to gain steam with good fun and great prizes in the pipeline for our top contestants.

Now, go and play around with the new features, check it all out and make the most of the revolution that we’ve been working so hard on over recent weeks.
