Currently Australian Superbike Championship leader Bryan Staring will make a surprise appearance in next weekend’s Snetterton round of the British Superstock Championship for the factory HM Plant Honda team.

Staring, who is the reigning Australian Supersport Champion, will stand in for injured regular Steve Plater, riding alongside fellow Australian and current BSB points leader Josh Brookes in the HM Plant squad.

“I feel really privileged to have been given the chance to come and race in the UK by the HM Plant Honda team,” Queensland-based Staring said. “It has been a dream of mine for a while, so to get the chance to come over for the Snetterton round and make that a reality is a great opportunity for me.

“The team are well known and regarded, as they have won so many titles and BSB as a whole is looked up to here in Australia so it is going to be a blast! I fly over on Monday and then get to visit the team on Wednesday before heading to Snetterton.”

Brookes recently rode the HM Plant Honda CBR1000RR to victory on debut in his first appearance in the British Superstock Championship at Silverstone, however will now focus on his BSB title charge as the season reaches the midway point. Staring isn’t sure what to expect, but looks forward to the challenge.

“I guess I am going to have to approach the weekend slightly differently to what I am used to – it will be a new team, a new track and a new, albeit similar, bike, but my aim is to take time on Friday to learn the ropes and settle in and then I need to be up there and doing the business in qualifying and the race,” Staring continued.

“My long term goal is to come and race in BSB as that seems to be the best way to then move to the world stage. I just can’t wait to get over to the UK and give it my best shot.”

Staring is the latest in a whirlwind of current ASBK riders to receive international invitations, with current Aussie champion Josh Waters currently in the United States for the Rockstar Makita Suzuki team, Wayne Maxwell in Japan for DREAM RT Racing’s Suzuka 8-Hours charge, and Glenn Allerton has been a regular in the Asian Road Racing Championship during 2010.
