Scottish Kawasaki Racing Team rider Billy Mackenzie continues to claw back points in the fight for the 2010 Rockstar Energy MX Nationals Pro Open Championship, sitting just 16 points behind series leader Jay Marmont with three rounds remaining.

Mackenzie has narrowed the deficit from 44 points following Canberra’s second round where he didn’t finish three motos after breaking his hand, now well and truly in the hunt for the title as the season winds down.

“Today wasn’t too bad but it wasn’t too great either – I had some allergy issues so wasn’t feeling the best,” Mackenzie commented after finishing second at Albury Wodonga on Sunday. “All the guys really upped the ante this week meaning I had to work harder.

“I’m disappointed not to win but it’s still good to get second. All my preparation now is for the last round at Coolum where I must have peak fitness and be prepared.”

The series will head to Moree in New South Wales on 18 July before Coolum’s double-header in Queensland will wrap up the 2010 championship.
