RR: Maxwell makes Japanese debut in Suzuka 300 practice

Honda Australia-backed Superbike rider Wayne Maxwell has checked in after the opening day of practice at Suzuka for this weekend’s Suzuka 300 endurance event.

Maxwell is teamed with Chojun Kameya for the 300, a prestigious warm-up race in the lead-up to the Suzuka 8-Hours Endurance World Championship event, which Maxwell will contest next month.

“The first session went great and I did a 2.15.50,” the Victorian current ASBK runner-up said. “I just used the one tyre and kept circulating around to learn the track! I actually really like this circuit and Japan in general. My teammate Kayema did 2.10.73 which was in the top three so we are all pretty happy with the way things are going.”

Maxwell later improved his time in the second session of the day with a 2.13.2, and at the time of press, he was finishing up his third and final session for the day.
