ASBK: Herfoss wins Supersport race one in Queensland

Team Suzuki’s Troy Herfoss won the opening leg of the Queensland Raceway Australian Supersport Championship round, taking a 2.568-second victory over Suzuki privateer and arch-rival Brodie Waters.

Waters lead early on after taking the holeshot from second on the grid, before Herfoss took charge mid-race and stretched a comfortable lead with the fastest lap of the race with a 1:13.005.

Meanwhile, an early charge from Gobert saw him fall back into the clutches of fellow Yamaha rider Chris Quinn, the pair having an outright battle for the final step on the podium.

Quinn got that position in the end, while rounding out the top five was AARK Triumph’s Christan Casella, edging out a hard-charging Andy Lawson Jr and Ryan Taylor.

Notable crashers in the race were Blake Leigh-Smith, going down on the exit of Turn Five on the opening lap, as well as Dylan Mavin, who went down early in Turn Three.

Superbike race one is scheduled to run early this afternoon at approximately 12:25pm.
