Oz MX: Victorian Motocross secures television coverage

Motorcycling Victoria and the Motocross Management Committee have announced that the 2010 Peter Stevens Motorcycles Victorian MX Championships will be televised across Victoria on Channel 31.

Kickstart Media, the same company that produces MXTV, will produce The Victorian Motocross Championships, which will debut on Channel 31 on Tuesday, 4 May at 7:30pm.

The Victorian Motocross Championships will feature eight 30-minute episodes, one dedicated to each round of both the Junior and Senior championships. Each episode will air on Tuesday at 7:30pm one week after each round.

Chairman of the Motocross Management Committee Rob Mestrom is delighted with the television coverage.

“We’re delighted that Kickstart Media, a well respected company, will produce The Victorian Motocross Championships and give us unprecedented exposure for our championships,” he said. “Having television coverage increases the number of people exposed to Motocross and has allowed us to attract a number of top line sponsors for 2010.”

Across all eight episodes will show highlights from every class of the championships.

Brendan Bell from Kickstart Media is looking forward to showcasing Victorian Motocross to a new audience throughout the year.

“This is a big development for the sport in Victoria because it opens up Motocross to a new audience,” Bell commented. “Our aim is to get families sitting down in front of the TV watching Motocross and really show that it is a fun, family oriented and most of all safe sport for their son or daughter to participate in.”

Increasing the potential reach of the show is the fact that Channel 31 will go fully digital mid-year, allowing thousands of homes who currently can’t access Channel 31 the ability to do so. As a result the picture quality will also drastically increase.
