Nine-time world champion Valentino Rossi suffered a crash on his Motocross bike last week, the Italian diagnosed with minor injuries according to European media reports.

Rossi, who won the season opener of the 2010 MotoGP World Championship in Qatar on 11 April, had the incident last Thursday while training near Pesaro in his home country.

Following the fall, Rossi then reportedly felt pain in his back on Friday morning, opting to undergo medical examinations, however X-rays only revealed bruising.

The 31-year-old, who often rides Motocross for training in between rounds, will now focus on the second round of the championship, which will take place at Jerez in Spain on 2 May after the Japanese GP was postponed due to the volcanic eruption in Iceland last week.

Earlier this year, Rossi’s Fiat Yamaha teammate Jorge Lorenzo missed the second Malaysian pre-season test at Sepang after fracturing his right hand in a Motocross crash while training in Spain with World Superbike rider Carlos Checa.
