Oz MX: Honda MotoKids enjoys success in Newcastle

Being the third stop of the calendar, Honda MotoKids headed to the Gwandalan Junior trials club in the Newcastle region with much anticipation.

Under perfect weather conditions the day kicked off in grand style. The large amount of participants with their fun bikes enjoyed themselves and had the pleasure of riding the Gwandalan junior trials circuit which catered for all riding levels.

“It was great to see the number of participants that came along for the day,” said NSW event manager Ben Schodel. “The weather was sensational and the facilities here are unbelievable. The day just ran so smooth.”

With coaching drills carefully scheduled into a jam-packed day that consisted of organised, supervised free riding, the come and try sector and some carefully planned games, the kids definitely had their work cut out for them. As always the kids had the opportunity to ride the full range of Honda’s mini fun bikes and that they did.

The third running of the Honda MotoKids brought more emphasis to the “come and try” sector, with majority of the kids coming along to get their chance to try out one of Honda’s awesome mini fun bikes and learn a few tricks of the trade along the way.

Director of the new Honda Motokids initiative and owner of the Building Champions Program Lee Hogan had this to say on the Gwandalan event.

“From all reports the event ran extremely smooth with everyone enjoying themselves and no injuries to boot,” said Hogan. “Like always our goal is for the kids to have a safe, fun and exciting day while also being able to take home some new skills and techniques that they have learnt on the motorcycle.”

With the success of the Gwandalan event plans are already in place for a return to the region later in 2010.

The day wouldn’t have ran the way it did without the help of Honda’s NSW regional manager Johnny Wilson and the assistance of the Gwandalan Junior Trials Motorcycle club and their committee.

The fourth running of Honda MotoKids heads to the Brisbane Region on 2 May for the first of five scheduled Queensland events.
