Haslam has been in brilliant form during 2010 with Suzuki.

Current Superbike World Championship leader Leon Haslam is hoping to maintain his lead in the series as the third round enters Valencia in Spain this weekend, the Suzuki Alstare rider making a dream start to season 2010 at Phillip Island and Portimao.

The British rider has proven a title contender so far in 2010 with Suzuki on the factory-backed GSX-R1000, leading a world class field into Valencia by 16 points from Aprilia’s four-time 250cc Grand Prix World Champion Max Biaggi.

“I really like the track and I think I showed that when we tested here in December,” Haslam said this week. “It’s a very technical track and it’s important to get a good set-up as early in the weekend as possible and then have a good qualifying.

“The twin-cylinders have gone well here before, but I’m sure we can give them more than a run for their money this weekend. It’s going to be another hard fought weekend but I’m confident that we’re going to be very competitive and will be going all out to make sure I finish the weekend still at the top of the championship standings.”

Haslam raced to a pair of fifth places last season in his return to WSBK with the privateer Stiggy Honda squad.
