ASBK: Maxwell wins at Hidden Valley in TERRA club race

Demolition Plus GAS Honda Racing’s Wayne Maxwell won the second round of the Top End Road Racing Association (TERRA) Club Championships at Hidden Valley on Sunday, riding a production CBR1000RR.

Maxwell, the current points leader in the Viking Australian Superbike Championship, won both races on the Fireblade complete with licence plates on loan from a dealer in the Northern Territory.

“We won both races start to finish so I couldn’t be more happier with that,” Maxwell said. “I’m really glad I came to to learn the track.”

The race weekend was Maxwell’s first opportunity to experience the heat and humidity in the Top End, however he’s confident for the official ASBK race weekend on 9-11 April.

“I was pretty good in 15 laps, I was definitely feeling [the heat] in the end,” he told the NT News. “I think it’s going to be an interesting race and those that haven’t trained are definitely going to feel the effects. Most of the top guys are pretty fit so it’s going to be a tough race and it’s not going to be easy that’s for sure.”

Darwin will host round two of the Australian Superbike Championships for the first time in 11 years.

“It’s a real fun track and I enjoyed it and I’m happy to race at a new place up here in Darwin,” Maxwell said. “I cant wait, the crowd is going to be good hopefully and we are going to put on a good show.”
