WSBK: Parkes ruled out for Portimao and Valencia, Morais in

South African rider Sheridan Morais has been called on to replace regular rider Broc Parkes on the ECHO CRS Honda CBR1000RR for Portimao’s second round of the Superbike World Championship in Portugal this weekend.

Australian rider Parkes continues his recovery from a pre-season training injury where he suffered a broken leg, forcing him to miss the opening rounds of the 2010 championship. Morais will also contest the Valencia round in Spain in place of Parkes.

“I will be riding for the team at Portimao and Valencia because Broc is still recovering from his injury,” he explained. “Broc is getting better at a good pace but the team just wants him to heal properly before he comes back into action. I am looking forward to the weekend in Portugal and being back in WSBK racing.”

Parkes was replaced by countryman Josh Brookes at Phillip Island’s season opener, the HM Plant Honda British Superbike star struggling with the equipment throughout the weekend.
