Three of the biggest names in the history of Australian motorcycle racing will take to the Albert Park circuit in an ‘Australian Motorcycle Legends’ demonstration at the 2010 Formula 1 Qantas Australian Grand Prix.

Five-time 500cc Grand Prix World Champion Mick Doohan will be joined by Aussie greats Wayne Gardner and Daryl Beattie in a series of demonstration laps at the picturesque Albert Park Grand Prix circuit on 27-28 March, this weekend.

Australian Grand Prix Corporation CEO Drew Ward looks forward to having the legends on hand.

“We are thrilled to announce the Legends as a part of the on-track line-up at the 2010 Formula 1 Qantas Australian Grand Prix,” Ward explained. “It was Sir Jack Brabham and Alan Jones who introduced Australians to motorsport and paved the way for the likes of Mark Webber and newcomer Daniel Ricciardo.

“Gardner, Doohan and more recently Beattie’s success has cemented Australia’s reputation as one of the world’s greatest motorcycling nations.”

Doohan will also drive the Mercedes E63 AMG in the new-look Ultimate Speed Comparison against a Formula 1 Vodafone McLaren-Mercedes and a Team Vodafone V8 Supercar. Jamie Whincup, Craig Lowndes and Mark Skaife will also participate, driving the Team Vodafone V8 Supercar.

Doohan, Gardner, Beattie and ex-F1 champ Alan Jones, who will also complete a demo, have seven world championships and 87 Grand Prix wins between them.
