Grabham will contest his home round of the Stadium MX series at Bathurst.

One of Australia’s all-time greats of desert and off-road racing Ben Grabham (Motorex KTM Off Road Team) will compete at the opening round of the Stadium Motocross Series next Saturday, 30 January at Bathurst Showground in front of a home crowd.

Grabham is anticipated to lead the charge for the Pro Open class aboard his KTM 450 and will definitely be a crowd favourite in his home town.

Winning three consecutive Fink Desert Races has cemented Grabham’s name into the history books, he has also represented Australia at numerous International Six Day Enduro’s (ISDE) along with countless other wins including the winning last year’s Hatta.

Whilst motocross is not his forte, Grabham likes the intensity of racing stadium motocross.

“I enjoy the close racing of motocross and especially the banging of bars in the motos,” he said. “I try to ride the first couple of stadium at the start of each year, it helps my preparation for my off road racing, I use it as training.”

Organiser Phil Sargent of Dirt Bike Promotions, says Bathurst and the Central West is loaded with talented motocross riders.

“We really want to try and get a huge local contingency to take on the rest of the riders from across the state,” Sargent commented. “Due to the tough economy we are offering one FREE child admission to every paying adult. I have a family of my own and I know how expensive it is to take the whole family on an outing, so I hope this will just help a little and give families the chance to have a great day and evening enjoying the spectacular of Stadium Motocross.

“Stadium Motocross is a similar layout to Supercross racing with a man made track with loads of Supercross style jumps formed from dirt inside the arena at Bathurst Showgrounds it lends for super close racing. We’re really looking forward to the first round of the series, riders on new bikes and all very eager to hit the track, which is a twilight event being run during the day and into the early evening.”

Sargent also said entries are now available and entries will be capped at 24 for each class so don’t miss out.

Round two will be held in Orange Showground in NSW on 20 February and round three will return to Maitland Showgrounds in NSW on 13 March.

“This will really be an unmissable event for riders and spectators alike,” Sargent said.

The series boasts classes for any rider with a National Motorcycling Australia license including Nippers, Juniors, Clubman, Womens, Pro Lites and Pro Open.

Gates at the Bathurst Showgrounds will open at 9am Saturday.

Admission costs: Adults – $15.00, 1 Child – Free (with a paying adult), Child – $5.00 (5yrs – 14yrs if not with a paying adult) and Under 5yrs FREE.
