ASBK: Symmons Plains to receive later date on calendar

asbk-logoA date change is set to be announced for the final round of the 2010 Australian Superbike Championship, to be contested alongside the V8 Supercars Championship Series at Symmons Plains in November.

The round will take place one week later than the previously released date of 5-7 November that was listed on both the V8 and ASBK calendars, moved to 12-14 November for the championship finale.

While no official word is yet to be released from ASBK, the first two-plus-four event of the season, a brief statement from V8SA said that the “V8 Supercar Board confirmed at the last meeting that they could accommodate the rescheduling of the Tasmanian race date to avoid a potential conflict that had been brought to their attention”.

Early speculation suggests that the reason for the date change is due to a television conflict for Channel 7, the initial date being the same weekend as the Spring Racing Carnival’s Emirates Stakes Day on 6 November.

Stay tuned for the official word and confirmation when it’s released.
