Motorcycling Australia has announced that Williams Event Management (WEM) has secured the rights to promote the Australian Motocross Championship until 2019, extending its contract for the next 10 years.

The deal, a five year agreement with an option of another five years, recognises the hard work and continual development WEM has made to the championship over the years.

MA’s CEO, David White, said that MA was looking forward to continuing to work closely with WEM.

“WEM has been promoting Motocross in Australia since 1997 and has endeavoured to continually develop and improve the sport,” White said. “Despite tough economic times we’ve watched the Australian Motocross Championship continue to grow and we’re looking forward to seeing what is in store for 2010.”

WEM director Kevin Williams was pleased with the agreement, and with a number of exciting changes happening to the series in 2010, is excited about the future of Motocross in Australia.

“We’re thrilled with the announcement and look forward to continuing our long running partnership with MA,” Williams said. “The new contract will enable us to further develop the championship with our partners; MA, the Motocross Commission, all the teams and competitors, and our sponsors.

“The strength of the championship has been recognised by the level of sponsorship and support it has attained for 2010, and with the addition of a television package, new racing formats, and new venues, it’s an exciting time for the championship.”

The 2010 Australian Motocross Championship will kick off at Horsham in Victoria late in March.
