AMA SX: Lawrence confirmed for Anaheim I AMA Supercross

2008 AMA West Coast Lites Supercross Champion Jason Lawrence has shocked the industry by confirming that he will line up at Anaheim’s opening AMA Supercross of the season on 9 January next year.

Lawrence was released from a four-month jail sentence on Christmas Eve, leaving him just two weeks to train and get ready on his 2010 model Yamaha YZ450F on his own JLaw Racing team.

“My goal is to race Anaheim, that’s really all that I can say my goal is,” he said in the Transworld interview. “I just want to go to Anaheim and race, be competitive, I think I’m going to surprise myself. I’ll be fresh – I’m rested and I’m ready to go. As the year goes on I’m just going to get better and better, get in better shape, so I’ll just look for my results to improve.”

Lawrence has ridden just one day since his release, stating in the interview that he was sore for two days afterwards, but is confident that he’ll make an impact upon return next weekend.

The 22-year-old will team up with former world and AMA champion Grant Langston for next season, revealing his participation in a video interview on U.S. Motocross magazine Transworld Motocross’ website.
