AMA SX: Brett Metcalfe injured during Supercross testing

South Australian Brett Metcalfe will switch from the West to the East coast for the 2010 AMA Supercross Lites regional championship after injuring his foot during a testing crash last week.

The Geico Powersports Honda rider will enter the East coast series as a favourite for the title with an extended preparation time, although many of the leading Lites stars are yet to be announced in what region they’ll compete in.

“There is a section at the Honda SX track with two consecutive dragon-back obstacles,” Metcalfe told U.S. magazine Transworld MX. “I was jumping over the first one last week and the chain snapped and caused me to endo.

“I landed feet first on the takeoff of the next dragon-back and crunched my foot. Nothing is broken, thankfully, but I will be out of action for a few weeks. I can’t even walk on it right now. I guess this means that I am racing the East coast series!”
