MotoGP: Canepa confirmed for Moto2 ride with Scot Racing Team

SCOT RACING TEAM:

Niccolò Canepa and Scot Racing Team signed today an agreement for the rider from Genova, Italy, to compete in 2010 in Moto 2 for the Republic of San Marino squad.

Next season the Moto 2 will substitute the 250cc class, with bikes having a prototype frame and an engine developed from street models. The Scot Racing Team have designed a their own bike, with the expertise and experience collected along the years and that enabled them to win the 2009 250cc riders championship.

Cirano Mularoni (Team owner): “We are delighted to have Niccolò with us. We asked him to join Scot Racing Team because he’s fast, competitive and, although still very young, already a very experienced rider. He competed in MotoGP this year, and in the same class he was test rider the previous season. In our opinion, he’s the right man for a brand new class and a team like ours – we designed our own bike and we are going to develop it day by day, race by race. We are convinced to be able to do a great job together”.

Niccolò Canepa: “I’m absolutely pleased with the agreement we signed. And I’m am really happy about the possibility to play a creative role in a working group that has been able to show high potential and capable of great results – this season and in the past. A new class, a new bike: it will be a tough job, but with rewarding perspectives. The target is to do well”.

Niccolò Canepa was born in Genova, and still lives there. He’s 21 years old. He won the Superstock 1000 FIM Cup. In 2008 he was test rider Ducati. In 2009 he competed in MotoGP in a Ducati satellite team.
