Final preparations for the fight for the 2009 Woodstock Bourbon Australian Superbike Championship wrapped up at Phillip Island on 16-17 November, with Motologic Racing and Team Joe Rocket Suzuki taking part in a two-day test at the scenic Victorian circuit.

The leading ASBK outfits took part in a pair of Phillip Island Ride Days to iron out any kinks before the most important race meeting of the season is staged on 27-29 November, where just nine points separates the top three in the title chase.

Defending series champion Glenn Allerton currently leads the point standings on 253 points for Motologic, with Suzuki’s Josh Waters just two points in arrears on 251 and Allerton’s teammate Wayne Maxwell on 244 in third.

Despite a circuit filled with ride day participants and an oil spill on the opening day, both teams have left the test with their final revisions in order before the season finale at the end of the month.

Whoever wins the round out of the top three will be crowned the champion (Maxwell needing to win both races if the leading trio finish in the top three during the weekend), with both Waters and Maxwell coming on strong to pressure Allerton as the season goes down to the wire.

No times have been released from the test.
