Oz SX: Reed and Moss continue form in practice at Perth Super X

Former AMA and world champion Chad Reed has again topped the qualifying time sheets at round three of the Monster Energy Super X, Australasian Supercross Championship, at the Burswood Dome in Perth this afternoon.

Reed, who was today officially confirmed to be riding for Monster Kawasaki in the United States in 2010, set the quickest lap of practice with a 31.853 late in the session to head Dan Reardon’s 32.992 for Woodstock Honda and Michael Byrne’s 33.273 for Rockstar Maxima Honda.

Reardon had earlier topped practice in the only indoor event of the Super X season, but it was Reed who came out firing during the 10 minute qualifying session to assert his dominance on the tight and technical track.

Opening round winner Jay Marmont set the fourth quickest time with a 33.614, while Dan McCoy has shown his best form of the season to date with the fifth quickest time at 33.864 on the Pacific Ink Coastal KTM High Roller Energy Team.

The Lites class was again a Matt Moss show for Rockstar Motul Suzuki as he scorched to the best lap by over a second with a 32.981, with only Reed going quicker so far, while Dean Ferris (Woodstock Honda) was a surprise second at 34.240 and American import Kyle Cunningham (Serco Yamaha) third at 34.335.

It has been a stellar few weeks for defending Lites champion Moss, all but confirmed to be heading to the USA in 2010 to compete for the factory Rockstar Makita Suzuki team in the Lites class according to speculation at the circuit after Racer X broke the news this afternoon.

A live telecast will be aired on Fuel TV at 7.30pm on the East Coast of Australia. Check your local guide for exact times in your region.
