Oz SX: Reed and Moss fastest in Geelong qualifying sessions

Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Chad Reed has bounced back from his Monster Energy Super X, Australasian Supercross Championship, round one disappointment to post the fastest qualifying time this afternoon at round two in Geelong.

Reed set a fastest lap of 49.862 seconds, narrowly edging out fellow American-based Aussie Dan Reardon, who is again showing top form for Woodstock Honda to lap at a 50.389.

Third quickest in qualifying was Cheyne Boyd (51.465) ahead of CDR Rockstar Yamaha teammate, and current series leader, Jay Marmont (51.823).

Rounding out the top five on what is being pegged as one of the best Supercross tracks Australia has witnessed was Kawasaki’s Craig Anderson (51.962), with Michael Byrne sixth fastest on debut for the Rockstar Honda Maxima Team, posting a 52.353.

Heading the Lites is Rockstar Motul Suzuki’s defending champion Matt Moss, who actually posted the second fastest lap overall behind Reed with a 50.311, while Serco Yamaha’s American import Kyle Cunningham (50.785) was second ahead of teammate Kirk Gibbs (50.919).

Racing will commence with the heats at 3.40pm, with the event aired live (local time) on Fox Sports 3 at 4.30pm.
