Exclusive: First look at 2010 KTM off-road range

KTM Australia has released details on its powerhouse off-road range, with revisions coming across the board throughout both the Enduro and Motocross ranges – two-stroke and four-stroke.

2010 TWO-STROKE MOTOCROSS (125 SX/150 SX/250 SX)

Chassis:

•    New frame with steeper steering head (0.5°) for 125/150 SX
– Easier cornering, better feel for front end

•    New KTM patented triple clamp design (Twin-screw-clamps), fixed off-set 22 instead of 20 mm
– Designed for improved flex characteristics and fork action
– Optimal handling

•    Revalved suspension settings
– New fork seals and bushings to reduce sliding friction and improve better comfort
– Combined with new triple clamps the forks provide improved handling and stability

•    New front brake pads Toyo B153
– Better performance, more progressive feel

•    New air box design & new air filter
– Improved filter protection

•    New exhaust single-wall pipes for two-strokes (wall thickness from 0.88 to 1.00 mm)
– More resistant against stones

•    New radiator cap – 1.8 bar instead of 1.4 bar
– Better heat stability

•    New Renthal hand grips

2010 FOUR-STROKE MOTOCROSS (250 SX-F/450SX-F)

Chassis:

•    New frame design for 450 SX-F
– Frame is welded to steering head 10mm lower than 2009, which slightly lowers tank and seat position
– Optimised weight balance
– Better control of front wheel, lighter feeling

•    Revalved suspension settings
– New fork seals and bushings to reduce sliding friction and improve better comfort
– Combined with new triple clamps the forks provide improved handling and stability

•    New front brake pads Toyo B153
– Better performance, more progressive feel

•    New radiator cap – 1.8 bar instead of 1.4 bar
– Better heat stability

•    New Renthal hand grips
– Better feeling

•    New air box design & new air filter

450 SX-F
•    Reinforced piston (+ 0.5mm wall thickness)

•    New frame with steeper steering head (0.5°) for 125/200 EXC, triple clamps off-set 20 to 22 mm
– Easier cornering, better feel for front end

•    Optimised airbox & new air filter

•    New graphics with brighter colours

•    New suspension valving, PDS with new needle design similar to SX 2009
– Provides damping slightly earlier for more progressive feel through the stroke
– More comfort and traction, focus on optimal Enduro feeling
