ASBK: Willis for demo laps on BMW S 1000 RR at Eastern Creek

BMW MOTORRAD AUSTRALIA:

A preproduction version of the stealth-like BMW S 1000 RR has arrived on Australian soil ahead of its retail release, scheduled for the first quarter 2010.

As the signature act on the BMW S 1000 RR Planet Power Tour, the BMW Superbike will make its way around the county for exclusive customer preview events at BMW Motorrad dealerships and select public appearances.

The purebred super sports machine made its debut in Australia at Southbank Motorcycles for one day only kicking-off comprehensive tour programme.

“The initial response has been overwhelming. Already with just one preview event underway, over two hundred people made the trip to see the S 1000 RR in the flesh and learn more about this awesome machine,” said BMW Motorrad Marketing Manager, Miles Davis.

“As an indication, Southbank Motorcycles is already holding in excess of fifteen orders for the bike and we anticipate this level of demand to compound even further on the back of the Planet Power Tour,” said Miles.

The BMW S 1000 RR Planet Power Tour involves no less than nineteen dealer appearances and exclusive opportunities at select rounds of the Australian Superbike Championship, beginning with Round 5 at Eastern Creek on Saturday 8th August. In addition the bike will also be showcased at the Perth and Sydney Motorcycle Shows, Moto GP and select Eastern Creek and Phillip Island ride days.
