No strangers to life in the fast lane, superstar entertainer Pink and her high-flying husband, freestyle motocross hero Carey Hart swapped the stage for the seat of a 600hp Holden V8 Supercar today on the Gold Coast.

Touring together in separate nationwide shows, the duo spent a rare day off at the Holden Performance Driving Centre in Norwell, the home of Supercheap Auto Racing.

Hart, who is headlining his own Hart and Huntington Freestyle Tour presented by Holden, was a guest of the leading team at the Symmons Plains event a fortnight ago, and admitted to being captivated by the muscle and raw power of the touring car category.

V8 Supercar legend Russell Ingall and team owner Paul Morris took time out to give the couple a tour of the state-of-the-art workshop, before fitting them out in their own race suits.

P!NK was first to climb aboard the ‘Enforcer’s’ #39 Holden Commodore racecar, enjoying every moment of a white-knuckled series of hot laps at speeds of over 200km/h.

Then it was Hart’s turn, though his ride was more like a private tuition session with Paul Morris preparing him for the upcoming challenge.

An accomplished racer in his own right, Hart swapped seats with Morris, and set off on his first ever laps as a V8 Supercar pilot.

He took little time to find his feet, quickly coming to grips with the braking and cornering characteristics of the car and making steady improvement with every lap.

Hart said the opportunity had been incredibly rewarding, and said he held Morris, Ingall and his counterparts in high regard in terms of the physical strength and focus required to produce consistent, mistake-free laps.

“I had followed V8 Supercars with interest in the US, and was stoked to join the team at Super Cheap Auto Racing in Tasmania where I was able to experience the atmosphere of a race meeting up close,” said Hart.

“Today’s drive was amazing, its always been an ambition of mine to get behind the wheel of a fully-fledged Aussie touring car, and the experience was as good as I’d imagined it would be.

“It took a little getting used to – Paul [Morris] provided some great instruction and I was able to improve lap after lap.

“The braking and cornering capabilities are incredible, something you can’t get the feel for until you are actually sitting in the car.

“It was great to have P!NK along for the day, she was thrilled with the opportunity to go for a few flying laps.”

A renowned daredevil, P!NK said it was fantastic to spend the day alongside her husband and was thrilled by her experience – even sharing a joke with Russell Ingall, urging him not to go over 35 kilometres as she climbed into the passenger seat.

Following her ride with the former V8 Supercar champion P!NK got behind the wheel of the car and left the driver’s seat with a grin from ear to ear.

”I was smooth, fast and picked some great lines,” P!nk said after her lap around the Holden Performance Driving Centre circuit with Ingall.

“I had an absolute ball out there today and was amazed at how fast the car went – my favourite part was the braking.

“I do most of the driving between us it was good to take it to a track environment where it is totally different and to get my first real taste of V8 Supercar Racing.”

Supercheap Auto Racing Team Owner Paul Morris was impressed by Hart’s transition from two to four wheels, and said he displayed a natural aptitude for managing some of the car’s trickier characteristics.

“Carey [Hart] did extremely well behind the wheel today,” Morris said, “After he got a hang of the car he managed to record some impressive lap times.”

“He was a natural in the car and I think a lot of that can be put down to the massive amounts of racing he has done back home in the US.”

The Hart and Huntington Freestyle Tour presented by Holden continues this weekend at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre in Boondal.

Free to the public, the event runs from 1.00pm-4.00pm on Saturday June 13, and features a jawdropping array of FMX, stunt bike and mini bike demos alongside a showcase of hot rods and custom motorcycles, plus street and tattoo art, the latest tunes and exclusive fashion parades.
