ASBK: Motologic confirms Johnson for Supersport duties

Motologic Racing PR:

The 2009 Woodstock Bourbon Australian Superbike Championship will see an exciting new entry into the series at Round 3 in Queensland with the return of Shannon Johnson aboard a CBR600RR.

Shannon is returning to the series hungrier than ever for race wins and wants to prove to his supporters that he will be the man to beat on his all new motobet.com.au Supersport machine.

After beginning the year focusing on his training and family, Johnson is determined to make his mark in 2009 in the Supersport category on his Motologic prepared CBR600RR, riding for a combined effort through Procon, Response Real Estate & Motologic Racing The intentions are clear and current championship frontrunners will need to be aware that the Motobet CBR600RR project was purposely constructed for one reason.

The bike will sport the livery of an all new betting website www.motobet.com.au, which Motologic are pleased to announce a corporate partnership with today. Motobet.com.au will offer fans the wide range of sports and almost any type of racing with guaranteed better odds via online 24/7 or telephone. The beauty of betting with Motobet is that a percentage of your turnover goes back into developing future World Champions and Supporting Junior Racing through Motologic.

Staring, Attard, Stauffer, Herfoss and Johnson’s ex team mate Charlton will all need to operate at an optimum level to keep the 2002 Supersport Champion at bay for the upcoming ASBK round at Queensland raceway.

Aware of the task ahead, Johnson is resolute, saying “I am under no illusion as to just how difficult it will be to enter the championship at this stage, but I am very excited about the challenge and confident that the training I have been putting in the past few months will stand me in good stead. I am definitely up to the task.”

Johnson is also appreciative of the work going on behind the scenes to get him on the track in Queensland.

“Everyone has been fantastic; Procon, Response Real Estate and the team at Motologic, I can’t thank everyone enough for their support and hard work going into Queensland. To be back on a great bike that has the potential to win a championship is terrific. I am very excited.” “I also need to thank my personal sponsors who are continuing to back me this year; Arai Helmets, Musashi Sports Supplements and Berik Leathers. Their support is invaluable.”

As a sign of things to come for Shannon Johnson in his 2009 Superbike season, he rode this weekend past at Winton in the Formula Extreme series and blitzed the field. Winning every race he entered except for a DNF in race 2 on Saturday, his performance was very impressive. With the go-ahead from Jeff Leisk to take up the opportunity to ride in the Australian Superbike Series this year, Johnson looks set to shine.

Procon owner, Wayne Hepburn is confident that the new addition to the team will be successful.

“Bringing Shannon on at this point in the championship is no mean feat, but I have every confidence in his ability to take the opportunity with both hands and make it work. He has been training hard in the past few months and is ready to get out on the track and give the other riders something to think about.”

The round in Queensland will be a double header on May 30th and 31st, taking us through rounds 3a and 3b of the Woodstock Bourbon Australian Superbike Championship.
