OCEANIA MX TO BE HELD AT CANBERRA

Motorcycling Australia press release:

The 2009 Oceania Motocross Teams Championship will be held at the A.C.T. Motor Cycle Club on 29-30 August and locals can expect to see some of the Australia’s and New Zealand’s best battling it out on track.

While this two day Federation Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM) sanctioned event was unable to go ahead in 2008, this year looks set to be massive with the international event to be held at the newly re-developed Fairbairn Park.

In mid April, the club hosted the second round of the Australian Motocross Championship, debuting its new, world-class track to great success.

President Allan McNeice said that 2009 is going to be a massive year for the club, and that both riders and fans will not be disappointed when the Oceania Motocross Teams Championship heads to the nation’s capital.

“This is the first time and international event of this nature has been held in the A.C.T.,” McNeice said.

“Following on from our successful round of the MX Nationals, we can’t wait to show the world what great facilities we have and hopefully there will be many more events like this to come.”

After working closely with the A.C.T. Government’s Sport and Recreation Services to upgrade Fairbairn Park, the track is ready for action and with an expected influx of up to 5,000 people to the area for the event, it looks sure to be a highlight of the Australian Motocross calendar.

More information about the event will be placed on the club website at www.actmcc.com.au.
