DONALD UNDER LAP RECORD IN IRELAND

Relentless Suzuki press release:

Relentless Suzuki by TAS Racing’s antipodean ‘pure’ road racing employees – Kiwi Bruce Anstey and Aussie Cameron Donald – debuted their 2009 GSX–R machinery at a private test session earlier today at Kirkistown in Northern Ireland.

Both riders were very impressed with the new GSX–R range and completed over 100 laps each, often circulating together and sharing set-up discussions with their respective crew chiefs in between sessions.

Late in the day Cameron Donald recorded an unofficial circuit lap record at 55.2 seconds on the K9 GSX–R1000 Superbike.

Anstey and Donald had flown in to Northern Ireland after attending the launch of this year’s TT Festival in the Isle of Man. Donald will make his racing debut on May Day [May 4th] at Oulton Park in Cheshire in the National Superstock series and Anstey will complete his North West 200 shakedown with further private test sessions in Ireland.

Cameron Donald
“Having waited weeks on my visa to arrive I’ve been itching to get racing. The new GSX–R Suzukis are superb and I must admit – the Bank Holiday race at Oulton Park cannot come quick enough. Having only arrived last Friday, to have already ridden a track day at Oulton and also at Kirkistown has been great for me.”

Bruce Anstey
“It’s been a long winter so it was nice to get back onto some racing bikes. The day started a bit damp and cold but when the sun came out we really began to enjoy ourselves. I clicked right away with the new bikes and with a few more sessions on them I’ll be ready for the North West 200.”
