SAG Castrol Honda Team press release:

The circuit of Albacete held this weekend the first of seven races that will be disputed in the Spanish Championship. In wet conditions with the asphalt slowly drying and temperatures of 12 degrees, the SAG-CASTROL Team finished the first race of the CEV with a few satisfactory results in the 125GP category. The 2008 runner-up of the Spanish 125GP Luis Salom, finished in fourth position only two seconds behind the race winner. The rider of Riells del Fai (Valles Oriental) Jordi Dalmau, finished less satisfied in 11th position, fighting elbow to elbow with his teammate Juan Perello.

Glenn Scott got a good start and although riding with severe arm injuries, he finished in a well deserved seventh position demonstrating that he is a young rider with a great future ahead of him. The Majorcan pilot Juan Perello finished in a respectable tenth position, fighting with Dalmau and stealing his position on the last corner of the last lap. It is a fantastic result to kick off the season and get ready for the Red Bull Rookies Cup in fifteen days at Jerez.

These they are the commentary of all four riders on having finished the race:

Dalmau 11th position 125 GP: ” I had a good start and tried to  get into a steady rhythm in the first few laps and not take any risks. Once I found a good pace I started gaining positions but on the last lap I made a mistake and Perello overtook me on the final corner. The weekend was positive and I expect to improve this result in the next race. I want to thank my whole team for the work done this weekend”.

Salom 4th position 125 GP: “I made a very good start and in the first few laps was place in the top 6 positions but I was very careful to not make any mistakes. I saw many crashed and waited for my opportunity to attack, Jacobsen was bothering me as he was half a second slower than me and if the race had one more lap I believe I could have made the podium. The team and the motorcycle have worked to perfection and I want to give thanks to all my team because they are fantastic “.

Scott 7th position 125 GP: “In spite of the nerves I had a good start and was in the top 10. Although the great pain I was feeling during the whole race I tried not to lose concentration and finish as high as possible. I want to thank my team for the support during the whole weekend and the opportunity that they gave me to run with them, this is my best result since I am in the Spanish championship and I am really happy “.

Perello 10th position 125 GP: “I was nervous at the start and made a bad start. Once I was in a good pace I tried to go faster without making mistakes. This is my best result since I ran in the 125GP and I am really surprised of the fast adaptation with the SAG-CASTROL Team. I Want to give thanks to the whole team for the excellent work during the whole weekend and also to Chicho Lorenzo because he is one of the mentors of my projection “.
