WATERS READY TO FIGHT FOR OZ MX WIN

Woodstock Honda Thor Racing press release:

Following a brilliant opening round, Woodstock Honda Thor Motocross Team have their sights firmly set on the Nation’s capital this weekend (April 18-19) for round two of the MX Nationals.

Leading the charge will be Woodstock Honda Thor’s Todd Waters who currently leads the Pro Open Class on his CRF450R ahead of the much more experienced riders in Jay Marmont and Andrew McFarlane.

In taking out the round 1 win, the 18 year-old Queensland rookie showed he has what it takes to win this year’s Championship and he is pumped to be going bar to bar with the country’s best once again.

“The bike was working so well in round 1 and it gave me heaps of confidence to be able to fight for the win so let’s hope we can keep the momentum going for Canberra,” Waters said.

“It’s such a strong field though and wins won’t come easily – you will really have to fight hard and have a bit of luck go your way to be able to come out on top.”

Also looking forward to the Canberra round will be fellow Queenslander Ford Dale.

After showing great speed and confidence to qualify fourth in round one (just 1.4 seconds behind pole sitter Marmont), Dale’s weekend turned into a nightmare with a crash on the sixth lap of the first moto resulting in a dislocated collarbone and zero points for the round.

However, after intensive physiotherapy and a short break from riding, Dale is confident of putting in a strong performance.

“I’ve just started riding again and the collarbone feels good. It was pretty sore last week but by the weekend I should be back to full fitness,” Dale said.

“I have had to take it pretty easy these last few days but I can’t wait to get back out there and battle up the front.”

Dale is also among a number of riders to sing the praises of the updated Canberra track.

“I was there a few years ago with the AIS and it was a really cool track- a really nice flow – so I can’t wait,” Dale concluded.

Also flying the Woodstock Honda Thor flag in Canberra will be Brent Landman.

Landman – who currently rides under Honda Smart – will feel the void left by Peter Boyle who is racing in the Australian Four Day Enduro.

The second round of the MX National Championship will be held on April 18-19th at Fairburn Park, Majura, ACT.
