KTM Australia unveils 790 Duke and EXC TPI models at Sydney Motorcycle Show

KTM Australia press release:

KTM Australia Sydney Motorcycle Show Announcement

KTM Australia has officially taken the covers off its brand new 2018 model KTM 790 DUKE for the first time locally during this morning’s Media Walk to commence the 2017 Sydney Motorcycle Show, being held between 24-26 November.

Now open at the incredible new International Convention Centre (ICC) Sydney in Darling Harbour, two-wheel enthusiasts will be able to learn first-hand about KTM’s current machinery, purchase from the KTM Shop and meet some of the brand’s finest athletes this weekend.

The KTM 790 DUKE – ‘The Scalpel’ – was one of the stars of the EICMA show just over two weeks ago during its global unveil in Milan, Italy, and Australians will have their first opportunity to view it in person as the centrepiece of KTM’s display.

Powered by KTM’s new generation 799cc LC8c parallel twin engine that produces 105hp and 86Nm of torque, the agility of the electronics-packed KTM 790 DUKE is certain to exhilarate when it arrives in production during the second quarter of 2018.

Also uncovered alongside the KTM 790 DUKE this morning were the revolutionary new KTM 300 EXC TPI and KTM 250 EXC TPI off-road models. The fuel injected two-strokes were first launched in May and have landed in Australia for their exclusive first national appearance.

Combined with the latest generation EXC chassis and boasting class-leading technology throughout, the pair of TPI (Transfer Port Injection) machines set a new standard in two-stroke enduro machinery, due to land in local dealerships during the first quarter of 2018.

“We are thrilled to be showcasing the KTM brand at the Sydney Motorcycle Show this year,” states KTM Marketing Manager Alana Baratto. “2017 has been a massive year for our brand, which included many successes on the race track and the release of the all-new RC 390, 390 DUKE, 1290 SUPER DUKE R, 1090 ADVENTURE R, 1290 SUPER ADVENTURE S and the 1290 SUPER ADVENTURE R.

“It is fantastic that we are able to celebrate these achievements here at the Sydney Motorcycle Show. As an added bonus, the show has also allowed us to offer customers a preview of what is in store for 2018 with the launch of the much-anticipated 790 DUKE and EXC TPI models.”

Those attending the Sydney Motorcycle Show will also be able to see the expansive 2017 street model range on display at the KTM stand at the event, including the KTM 1290 SUPER DUKE R, KTM 1290 SUPER DUKE GT, KTM RC 390 and 390 DUKE. In addition, a wide range of merchandise can be purchased from the KTM Shop throughout the show.

A replica of legendary Australian Toby Price’s winning Dakar Rally machine will take centre-stage and, in a special announcement for fans of the Red Bull KTM Rally Factory Racing rider, he will be on-hand to sign autographs at the KTM stand at 1:30pm on Saturday.

Price will be joined by another high-profile KTM rider in Robbie Maddison, the freestyle motocross star turned stuntman due to sign at 1:30pm on Saturday and again at 1:30pm on Sunday afternoon. He will also be conducting a number of amazing water-riding demonstrations on Cockle Bay for the first time this weekend!
