CDR Yamaha team owner Craig Dack says the speed of the visiting internationals throughout the whoops at last weekend’s Monster Energy AUS-X Open in Sydney was obvious, which proved to play a pivotal role in the outcome of results during both nights of the event.

Dack, a former multi-time Australian champion, explained it’s something his riders Dean Ferris and Dylan Long will need to work on, declaring they lacked pace throughout the course of the weekend.

“We lacked pace all weekend, especially in the whoops,” Dack commented. “Both Dean and Dylan were there or there abouts, but the speed of the international riders and how fast they were across the whoops was obvious and something we will need to work on.”

The pace of Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing riders Dean Wilson and Jason Anderson through the challenging section was evident as they made up passes and ground lap after lap to both earn main event victories on Saturday and Sunday night respectively.

Dual Australian motocross champion Ferris lodged a 5-11 scorecard, leading the opening laps of the Sunday’s main before going down twice, while Long recorded a consistent pair of seventh place finishes.

The duo will now head to Jimboomba in Queensland this weekend for the final round of the Australian Supercross Championship, where they are both in a position to end up with a series podium.
