Reigning Australian supercross SX1 champion Justin Brayton will return to the country to defend his title alongside Gavin Faith and Jesse Dobson in Yarrive Konsky’s supercross-only Honda outfit.

The team is yet to reveal it’s commercial partners, however confirmed it has enlisted renowned team manager Jay Foreman to head up the squad for the six-round series.

Brayton spoke of returning down under from America to defend his premier class championship, commenting that he feels confident in the program that assisted him to the crown in 2016.

“This is the third time I will compete in Australia and I am looking forward to defending my championship and seeing more of the country,” said Brayton. “My wife and I have spoken openly about making it our home after racing, it truly is beautiful. Working with Honda and the team is every rider’s dream and I am confident we will have a competitive program again this year.”

Faith, a three-time champion in the SX2 division, will remain in the quarter-litre class as he endeavours to add another title to his name.

“I love Australia, the country and people,” Faith commented. “The team and I have been very successful and they run a professional program. Finishing second last year was tough, especially after scoring no points in round two. I want to contest for the championship and I know we can.”

Dobson is a new member to Honda-supported squad, and after a number of seasons in the premier class, he’s eager draw upon the experience of AMA regular Brayton in an effort to lodge his best season yet.

“To represent Honda is unbelievable and to have the opportunity to learn from Brayton is priceless,” Dobson explained. “I started the year working with Ben Townley and that has proven invaluable. I want to prove to myself and the team that I deserve this ride.”

Jimboomba will host the opening of the Australian Supercross Championship in Queensland on Saturday, 23 September.
