Zach Obsorne’s Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross 250MX crown proved to be one for the history books, with the number 16 clinching his first outdoor title, while also crediting the Husqvarna brand and the Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing outfit with their first ever championship in the category.

Osborne wrapped up the championship in convincing fashion, securing the number one plate with a round to spare after recording 8-1 results at Budds Creek’s penultimate stop last weekend.

It’s the second championship for Osborne this year, claiming the 2017 Monster Energy AMA Supercross 250 East earlier in May, however the factory Husqvarna rider revealed the outdoor title was a new learning experience as he maintained the points lead from the beginning of the series.

“When I went by the mechanics area on the last lap and saw the whole team cheering, I got cold chills,” Osborne commented at the post-race press conference. “It kind of just hit me – the season has come with all kinds of challenges, not so much racing, but personally.

“It’s been more personal learning how to carry this championship, I’ve been on the red plate since the first moto of the season – so it’s been a new learning experience for me.”

Osborne will now represent Team USA at Monster FIM Motocross of Nations at Matterley Basin in Great Britain, on 1 October, while it’s believed he’ll continue on with Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing team to defend his supercross title, although graduating to the premier 450MX class for motocross.
