Verdict:
CDR Yamaha’s Dean Ferris was unstoppable despite the fact he could wrap up the title in the second moto of the day, which exactly what he did with a perfect 1-1 scorecard to be crowned the 2017 MX1 champion. KTM Motocross Racing Team’s Kirk Gibbs gave it all he had, but second was the best he could manage around the challenging circuit. Kyle Peters (Wilson Coolair Motul Factory Suzuki) was third, landing on the podium for the first time this season, while Nathan Crawford (Mega Fuels Monster Energy Kawasaki) and Kade Mosig (DPH Motorsport Yamaha) were fourth and fifth respectively. Pole-sitter Brett Metcalfe was looking impressive in the early stages before a crash saw him bow out of the opening race, however upon return in race two, he was unable to bounce back the pace he held at the beginning of the day.
