The United States will field a surprise line-up in the 2017 Monster Energy Motocross of Nations (MXoN) at Matterley Basin, UK, on 1 October after confirming Cole Seely, Zach Osborne and Thomas Covington.

The trio will make their first-career MXoN appearances, as Team Honda HRC’s Seely takes up the MXGP role, Rockstar Energy Husqvarna’s Osborne MX2 and grand prix regular Covington in the Opens.

“With Osborne it was obvious and he has been wanting to go for years,” said Team USA manager Roger DeCoster. “Every year he has asked me, and I have had to turn him down, [but] this year he has earned it. Seely and Covington’s results have picked up and I think it’s a good time for them. All three riders really want to do it and their teams give them really good support.”

Osborne, who is on track to clinch the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship in the 250 Class will serve as the team’s captain, previously representing Puerto Rico in the prestigious international event.
