Verdict:
Defending MX1 champion and CDR Yamaha rider Dean Ferris moved a step closer to securing the 2017 crown with a perfect 1-1 day, extending his points lead to 75, which could see him wrap up the championship at the next round in Toowoomba. Crankt Protein Honda Racing’s Todd Waters made a welcomed return to the runner-up spot, as teammate Luke Clout claimed his maiden premier class podium. A mix of crashes and mistakes saw the third through to eighth only separated by five points, with Mega Fuels Monster Energy Kawasaki duo Brett Metcalfe and Nathan Crawford closing out the top five.

Verdict:
Davey Motorsports KTM’s Egan Mastin did exactly what he needed to do in order to position himself right in the championship hunt, taking two moto wins which now sees him second in the series standing. Class leader Wilson Todd (DPH Motorsport Yamaha) maintains a 13-point advantage after racing to a pair of second place results, as Serco Yamaha’s Mitch Evans was relegated to third in the points as he rounded out the podium for the day. Western Australian Kyle Webster (Penrite CRF Honda Racing) once again displayed promising form with a third in race one, but with a sixth in race two, he was good for fourth overall ahead of Hamish Harwood (Davey Motorsport KTM).
