Motul MX Nationals preparing to converge on Nowra

Motul MX Nationals press release:

Anticipation is now building with the mid-season break coming to a close, and the sixth instalment of the 2017 Motul MX Nationals set to take place at the Nowra Motoplex in New South Wales on Sunday July 2.

With the first half of the season now completed, competitors teams and event staff will now switch their attention to the second half of the ten round series, with the charge towards championships kick starting next Sunday which will coincide with the official Military round.

Motul MX Nationals Series Promoter Kevin Williams says that the last five events always produces the best racing of the season, and that after five weeks off for Australia’s National Motocross Championship competitors to recharge, that Nowra will undoubtedly produce some of the closest racing of the year.

“This weekend we will once again head to Nowra in the South Coast region of New South Wales to host the sixth round of our championship which is very exciting,” Williams shared.

“The venue is a tight and technical track which suits riders who can put their finer bike skills to good use, plus the region is well known for it’s love of motocross so we’re expecting a healthy crowd to turn out to spectate next Sunday.

“During the mid-season break we have had plenty happening that has kept our series on the radar. Dean Ferris our Thor MX1 Championship leader and defending champion recently headed over to the U.S and managed to achieve a podium race result against the best riders in the world, so Australian racing is well and truly being recognised world wide, and we’re thrilled to be getting back into it at Round 6.

“With Nowra marking the beginning of the final charge towards championships, the racing will be tight, and if there’s one thing that our fans love its bar to bar racing in all of our classes.”

In addition to the three championship categories competing at Nowra next weekend, the Motul MX Nationals will also host the Yamaha 85cc 9-12 Year old support class, providing the up and coming racers with the opportunity to step onto the national stage.

“As well as our heavy hitters in the Thor MX1, Motul MX2, and Pirelli MXD classes racing at Nowra we will also host Australia’s future champions in the Yamaha 85cc support category,” Williams said.

“This gives the youngsters the chance to dip their toe into the competition at the very top of the sport, and also showcases to team managers the level of talent which will be coming through the ranks in the years to come.

“Next weekend is going to be a huge event, with plenty for kids, adults and the whole family. Whether it’s supporting your favourite rider, or it’s your first time heading to one of our races, Nowra is always a crowd pleaser, and with Round 6 marking the Official Military Round, bikes will be decked out in camo to support those who serve for our country.”

The sixth round of the 2017 Motul MX Nationals will take place at the Nowra Motoplex on Sunday July 2, with gates opening from 7:30am.
