Verdict:
Heading into the five-week break, CDR Yamaha’s Dean Ferris continued his perfect record of overall wins to date this season. South Australian Kirk Gibbs was able to top Ferris again this weekend in a single moto performance, but it wasn’t enough to deny the defending champion the top spot on the podium for the day. South Australia’s Brett Metcalfe put on an impressive showing aboard his new privateer KTM 450 SX-F for third overall in front of his friends, family and home crowd. Top qualifier Todd Waters dealt with vision issues in moto one and mechanical issues during moto two forcing him out of the top five for the day, a disappointing result for the 2016 event winner. It was an exciting way to enter the mid-season break and it definitely served as a positive round for multiple riders to take into their time off.

Verdict:
It was an interesting round in the MX2 category at Murray Bridge with plenty of talking points throughout the day. Egan Mastin initially crossed the line first in moto one, although he then received a 10-second penalty which forced him back to third spot handing the win to Hamish Harwood. It was also Harwood’s first moto victory of the season and he put that together with a runner-up finish in moto two for his first-ever MX2 overall win. Dylan Wills showed improved form with a second-place in moto one and a seventh in moto two for fourth overall and series leader Wilson Todd struggled to find his true form throughout the day and finished fifth overall, handing points to Mitch Evans who claimed the final step on the podium.
