Strong weekend for DPH Motorsport

DPH Motorsport press release:

Wilson Todd dominated the MX2 class with pole & 1-1 finishes, Kade Mosig qualified 3rd, and followed with a 4-7 for 5th overall in MX1 and Deakin Hellier contesting the Rising Star Rookies class qualified 9 and went 17-17.

Heading into round 4 in Horsham, Victoria, the team was quietly confident, and rightly so. Wilson Todd was setting blistering pace on his YZ250F in private testing while Kade Mosig’s measured approach and past performance at the circuit were all positive indications, but the weather was a factor the entire paddock was conscious of, with heavy rain predicted for the entire east coast of the country.

Wilson Todd: “Well, I didn’t drop it this week!” Todd said. “The conditions were pretty average, and the heavy mud through qualifying and the first race were difficult, with a lot of the field DNF’ing, it just goes to show the time and effort the team puts into my bike as well as having the best products in the industry on board pays off. Race two let me race more than just surviving like in race 1, so I’m pumped to have that win and to regain the red plate, I can’t wait for Murray Bridge next weekend!”

Kade Mosig: “I’m disappointed for sure walking away from Horsham with the same result as Conondale. 5th overall is not horrible by any means, and the conditions were tough, but they were the same for everyone. I was in a better position in race two sitting about 4th and feeling good but a decent crash, hurting my finger, put me back to around 12th and I used a lot of energy working my way back through to 7th”.

Dale Hocking: “We knew that both Wilson & Kade would be strong this weekend, and in a way we were lucky to not get the rest of the rain that was originally forecast. What we didn’t expect was Wilson to qualify 4 seconds ahead of his nearest rival with a time that would have put him in P2 in MX1 Superpole and to go on to lap all bar 2nd place in the extremely challenging conditions in race 1!” Dale said.

“It was a tougher weekend for Kade though, with that mud in race one, visibility was poor if you didn’t get the holeshot and just circulating was a challenge for the entire field. Race two was a different story though with rough conditions being something Kade performs well in, however his crash was quite heavy, and he did well to remount and salvage his 5th place overall”.

“After a weekend like this, I’d really like to acknowledge the work that Jarrod & Ben & the rest of the team behind the scenes put in through the week to prepare the bikes for tough conditions like this as well as the effort they put in on race day, as shown by the image stolen from Wilson’s Instagram, the racers couldn’t even leave the pit without these guys!” an appreciative Hocking said.

DPH Motorsport heads back to their Carrum Downs base before heading to Murray Bridge, SA for Round 5 on Sunday May 28.
