Zach Osborne has been fined by the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) for his pass on Joey Savatgy to claim the 2017 Monster Energy AMA Supercross East Coast 250SX title inside Las Vegas’ Sam Boyd Stadium last weekend.

The AMA confirmed that a $7500 fine has been handed down to the Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing rider after his pass on the final lap saw the Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki rider hit the ground.

A protest was filed after Osborne secured the East Coast 250SX title and after a complete review of the incident it was determined by the race director that the factory Husqvarna rider was in violation of the rule Appendix A.2.c.17.

Although fined for his actions, Osborne’s violation has no bearing on points and he will remain the 2017 Monster Energy AMA Supercross East Coast 250SX champion.

According to the AMA, an appeal was filed following the original decision by the race director, although it was determined by the appeals panel that the penalty was justified and no further appeal is possible.
