Sherco go racing with big name backing

Sherco Australia press release:

The official Sherco off-road racing program in Australia is now under the umbrella of the newly-formed Dave Suter Racing with backing from some of the biggest and best motorcycle brands in the world.

Continuing from their successful partnerships in 2015 and 2016, Motul and Pirelli will again support the official Sherco Team for another busy year of racing.

“Motul is just amazing brand to work with,” said Team owner Dave Suter. “We use Motul 7100 10W60 in our four-stroke race and practice bikes with excellent results. In fact, we use Motul products for fork oil, brake fluid, filter oil, brake clean, chain lube and their cleaning and bike care products.”

The Team will also use the same proven Pirelli tyres they achieved success with in 2016. The race-winning Pirelli Scorpion XC Mid Soft is the tyre of choice for most applications as it suits a broad range of terrain typically found in Australian riding conditions.

“Pirelli is the best tyre for enduro racing,” Suter continued. “We mostly use the XC Mid Soft front and rear but the great thing about Pirelli is they have tyres for every surface we encounter.”

Australian Motorcycle Finance (AMF) has supported Sherco off-road racing since 2015 and the relationship continues in 2017 with AMF ambassador and keen off-road racer Kate Norman joining the Team. Kate will race a Sherco 300 SEF-R with support from Powerhouse Motorcycles.

Joining the Team for 2017 is international motorcycling apparel mega-giant Alpinestars. The prestigious brand is an icon in the motorcycle racing world with their unmistakable high performance boots matched with technically advanced riding gear.

“There is no bigger name than Aplinestars when it comes to riding gear,” Suter enthused. “It’s humbling to have Alpinestars consider our Team worthy of showcasing their products.”

Team riders Andy Wilksch, Nic Tomlinson, Derek Grundy and Kate Norman will use a combination of Tech 10 and Tech 7 boots and Techstar jerseys, pants and gloves. The Team is also joining forces with internationally recognised helmet brand, Bell, with all team riders wearing the Bell Moto 9.

“We’re incredibly grateful to secure backing from a host of excellent brands,” Suter concluded. “We’re still a relatively new Team but we have the best bikes and now we have the best brands working with us. I think it proves that the industry can recognise where Sherco is heading and that our race team is dead serious about performing.

“This year we welcome Race Tech hand guards and bike stands, Fresco Exhaust Systems through Powerhouse Motorcycles, Pro Grip hand grips and goggles, Samco Sport silicone hoses for our bike’s water cooling systems, the light and mega-powerful Battery Tender Lithium batteries, K&N oil filters, MSC Moto steering dampers, Xtrig triple clamps, Moto Master brakes discs, EK Chains, AFAM sprockets and unwavering support from Chad’s Off-Road Setups with suspension testing, tuning and development.”

DSR Motul Pirelli Sherco will officially begin the 2017 off-road race season this coming weekend at rounds 1 and 2 of the Australian Off-Road Championship at Rawson, Victoria, April 22-23.
