Action-packed Moto Expo complete at Melbourne Showgrounds

New models, products, entertainment and activities headline motorcycle show.

Moto Expo presented by Shannons Insurance put many of the latest products within the Australian motorcycle industry on display over the weekend at Melbourne Showgrounds.

Opened on Friday with new bike introductions from a selection of major brands in attendance, the action really heated up across Saturday and Sunday as spectators flooded the venue full of two-wheel entertainment.

Yamaha took the wraps off its new YZF-R6 sportsbike that comes packed with modern technology for the new year, the updated MT-09, Tracer 700, XMAX 300 and more, while its variety of title-winning motocross and supercross bikes were also on show.

Kawasaki’s impressive new Z range made headlines, as did the Versys-X 300 and Ninja 650/650L alongside its wider variety of models. The National Pump Monster Energy Kawasaki Racing Team KX450F of Kade Mosig and a special KLX450R of Todd Kelly were among the models.

Over at Ducati the new SuperSport S was the star, joined by the Multistrada 950 as the latest models on display alongside all of the regular favourites, plus a separate Scrambler stand also attracted much interest.

Triumph uncovered its Bobber, Street Cup and Street Scrambler, MV Agusta launched its Dragster 800 RC, BMW had a G 310 R displayed, Royal Enfield the Himalayan, SWM its SuperDual adventure bike, Moto Guzzi the sleek new MGX-21 Flying Fortress and Benelli showed off its TRK 502, BN 251 and TNT 135 range.

Crankt Protein Honda Racing unleashed its 2017 motocross and supercross team of Todd Waters and Luke Clout, also with superbike contenders Troy Herfoss and Bryan Staring in attendance, alongside the new CRF450R release and the ever-popular Africa Twin, Grom and others on hand.

In the stadium section alongside the stunting of Lukey Luke and Dave McKenna, Showtime FMX soared through the skies to the delight of fans, while the Baylisstic Scramble and supermoto display produced sideways action and the Yamaha bLU cRU enabled kids to get their taste of two-wheels throughout the event.
