National Pump Monster Energy Kawasaki Racing Team’s Wil Hahn made his first Australian Supercross Championship podium appearance at Toowoomba’s second round on 14 October.

Following a fifth place finish at Jimboomba’s season opening round, the American SX1 contender and his team spent the time between events fine-tuning his program.

“The team worked really hard to improve after round one and we did a good job together during the break,” said Hahn. “Not only that, but I worked on my fitness pretty hard, so I’m really happy with this result for everybody.”

Hahn excelled on the large and technical circuit with a third place qualifying position and a second place heat race finish to set himself up for the season best runner-up performance in the 20-lap main event.

“I feel stronger and I haven’t really felt that comfortable on the bike for a couple of years now, so it’s nice to get that feeling,” he explained. “The track really related to those back home, but something really clicked for me in that heat race and I’m excited.

“Honestly, those last five laps the track was done, because it was really windy, it was really slick and it was who made the least mistakes – we were all making them. It was a matter of minimising them and trying to be as strong as you can.”

Hahn now sits third overall in points, 12 back of series leader and fellow American import, Justin Brayton, with four rounds of racing remaining on the 2016 schedule.
