Recently crowned world champion Tim Gajser has been forced to withdraw from this weekend’s FIM Motocross of Nations event in Italy following a practice crash earlier this week.

Gajser was training at home in Slovenia when a small mistake saw the Gariboldi Honda rider taken to hospital for a precautionary evaluation, although he was later released as treatment wasn’t deemed necessary.

The 20-year-old endeavoured to be ready for the weekend’s prestigious event, however upon further consultation with doctors he was ordered to remain rested for a minimum of two weeks.

Gajser is scheduled to contest the Monster Energy Cup in the US and the Monster Energy Supermotocross Cup in Germany next month, although his attendance at the events will be confirmed as updates on his recovery become available. A replacement rider for the Slovenian team is yet to be determined.
